[Event Summary] Lotus F1 Factory Tour

LotusF1

Tony Cox of Lotus F1 gave a small group of people a very privileged and personalized tour of the Lotus F1 factory. With an initial introduction to the history of the facilities at Enstone (which are much larger than you would think as some parts are actually underground), and the various recognizable names the cars ran under, we then moved off on a walking tour of the various parts of the complex.

While photography was not permitted in many areas for obvious reasons we were able to see people hard at work producing parts destined to be used on the cars in upcoming races. It was impressive not both on the technical complexity and detail of the parts but the dedication of the people in the factory working, it would seem, all hours of the day and night to get the parts designed, built and fitted.

At the end of the tour we were presented with a room packed full of trophies collected by the team over the years. A very impressive display highlighted with a scale model of the F1 car used for wind tunnel testing suspended vertically on a display wall.

We would like to thank Lotus F1 for allowing us in to look around their facilities during the race season when attention, obviously, is all focused on building a race winning car.

This event was greatly over-subscribed and we are hoping to arrange another opportunity for those who applied but missed out this time. We will be in touch with those people directly when this is confirmed.
