Sadly, the number of registrations was insufficient to make the event viable and so we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.
We look forward to seeing you at a future meeting.

Free to attend but online booking essential.

Our Christmas Event this year is an IT “pub quiz” with food and a drink included. We welcome BCS members, their guests and non-members to a fun evening to test your knowledge, teamwork and powers of deduction. We’d love to see some new faces but capacity is limited, so please book online to secure a place for you and any guests.

What is This item? (The first picture is the bottom of the second.)

We promise that not all questions will be as obscure as the one above and we want to have some fun! There will be rounds on:

  • Who is this?
  • Acronyms and abbreviations
  • When did this happen?
  • What is this?

The “What is this?” round will include photos of ancient, in computer terms, objects from the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

There will be general IT questions too. And, of course, there will be prizes!

We are taking over the Handle Bar Café and Kitchen at 28-32 St Michael Street, Oxford OX1 2EB. https://www.handlebaroxford.co.uk/ . We will be serving food from 7.00pm. One drink will be included with your ticket and the bar will be open all evening for you to purchase more.

Each table takes 4 or 5 people for which we will organise the groups on the night, so don’t worry if you are comings alone. Members ,non-members and guests are very welcome although there is limited capacity. We would love to welcome people who don’t normally attend our events.

You will need to book in advance (free of charge). Click on the link to make your booking: https://oxf031218.eventbrite.co.uk
