Meeting Location

All the meetings take place at the Oxford e-Research Centre, unless detailed otherwise on the meeting information page.

Oxford e-Research Centre

Address

Oxford e-Research Centre, 6 Keble Road, Oxford OX1 3QG.

This is part of the same building complex as the Wolfson Building where we used to meet, but the entrance is now in Keble Road rather than Parks Road.

As our meetings are after normal office hours, we are using the entrance at 6 Keble Road rather than the more obvious door at 7 Keble Road. There should be a BCS sign to identify the entrance, unless you arrive before we have put it in place.

If you want to use a mapping or routefinder tool, options include Multimap, Streetmap, Google maps and the RAC

Parking

There is limited handicapped parking available in front of the Computing Laboratory.
For other attendees, parking is available nearby in Keble Road and Blackhall Road. At the time of writing (October 2007) there is no charge for evening parking in Keble Road; however the charging status has changed several times so if you want to be sure of avoiding penalties we suggest you check the pay and display meters and/or signs to make sure that charges haven't been reintroduced.

Until recently there were usually plenty of spaces available at meeting times, but the dropping of evening parking charges in St Giles seems to have caused overflow into Keble Road and Blackhall Road. As a result, you should plan to arrive earlier if you want to find a space in Keble Road, or allow time to park a little further away and walk from somewhere like Norham Gardens.

Note: When you park, especially in Blackhall Road, check the parking restriction signs. Although (at the time of writing in October 2008), there is no charge in the Pay and Display bays after 6:30pm, you risk getting a ticket if you park in a Residents' Only bay.

We have been asked to remind our members that parking in the university car parks without a permit is at your own risk, as the university now employs a clamping service.

If you have any special needs, please do not hesitate to contact us to make alternative arrangements.
