Dear %Field:Title% %LastName%;

Welcome to the first edition of the new style BCS Oxfordshire newsletter.
It's modelled on the eBCS bulletin and we're adding the ability to read previous issues on the web at www.oxon.bcs.org/eBCSOxon.php.

We'll be sending you this newsletter roughly monthly, a week or so before each branch meeting to remind you of the topic and to alert you to any last minute changes.

next event 21 September: The disappearance of cash - advances in payment technology

We hope to see you at our September meeting.

The first session in our 2006/7 programme will look at the ever increasing use of cards and electronic payments and why they have done little to reduce the use of cash, particularly for low-value payments. The talk will discuss how some recent and forthcoming advances in technology could change this.

Our speaker is Tim Lambertstock, Technology Strategy Manager at Voca (formerly BACS) and a member of the BCS Oxfordshire branch Committee.

Tim previously led the development and architecture for the major upgrade to the BACS payment system known as BACSTEL-IP. That programme won a number of awards, including the 2003 BCS Technology Award for Services.

See www.oxon.bcs.org/program2006-7.htm#Sep for details of the time and meeting location.
